CRUISE LINES HAVE STARTED MAKING A CONCIOUS EFFORT TO REDUCE THEIR CARBON FOOTPRINT.
Many cruise lines are designing some of their new ships to run Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) which is more environmentally friendly as its one of cleanest burning marine fuels. LNG fuel helps reduce a cruise ship’s carbon emission by approximately 30% and largely eliminates particulate matter from the ship’s exhaust. The first passenger ship to employ LNG was AIDAnova, which made her debut in 2018. Since then more than 20 additional LNG ships have been announced by various cruise lines.
