Updated cruise sailing status & cancellation policies of major cruiseliners

In light of the outbreak of Coronavirus, most cruise lines have temporarily suspended their sailings till end of June. However finally there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel with the major cruise lines announcing cruises in the Mediterranean, Caribbean and Alaska from July onwards.

Here is the updated sailing status of major cruiseliners and their revised cancellation policies:

Royal Caribbean

As per the latest update, Royal Caribbean has decided to extend the suspension of sailings of their global fleet through June 30th, 2021 – excluding sailings onboard Quantum, Anthem, Adventure, and Jewel of the Seas where sailings will commence in June. Royal Caribbean plans to resume further operation in July and details are awaited.
Here is an update on the resumption of sailings for some ships in the RCL fleet:
  • Adventure of the Seas June 5 to October 14, 2021: Instead of offering sailings from Barcelona, Spain, Adventure of the Seas will now offer sailings from Nassau, Bahamas beginning June 2021.
  • Vision of the Seas June 6 to August 29, 2021: Vision of the Seas was to resume operations from Bermuda beginning June 2021. However, in anticipation for the U.S. return to service and following overwhelming feedback from guests, the summer season in Bermuda will be cancelled.
  • Jewel of the Seas June 7 to October 31, 2021: Instead of offering sailings from Northern Europe; Barcelona, Spain; and Boston, Massachusetts, Jewel of the Seas will now offer sailings from Limassol, Cyprus beginning June 2021.
  • Anthem of the Seas June 4 to August 29, 2021: Instead of offering European sailings, Anthem of the Seas will now offer Ocean Getaways and British Isles itineraries from Southampton exclusively for UK residents.
  • Radiance of the Seas July 2 to September 24, 2021: Radiance of the Seas was to resume operations from Vancouver, Canada and Seward, Alaska beginning July 2021. However, a new bill has been signed to allow us to sail to Alaska without the normal requirement of an additional stop in another country. As a result, these sailings will be cancelled.
  • Serenade of the Seas July 4 to July 11: A new bill has been signed to allow us to sail to Alaska without the normal requirement of an additional stop in another country. Instead of departing from Canada, RCL will now have roundtrip Alaskan sailings departing from Seattle, Washington.
  • Ovation of the Seas July 2 to August 6: Ovation of the Seas was to resume operations from Seattle, Washington beginning July 2021 before completing Hawaii and Transpacific itineraries in September 2021. However, a new bill has been signed to allow RCL to sail to Alaska without the normal requirement of an additional stop in another country. As a result, these sailings will be cancelled.
  • Odyssey of the Seas May 9 to October 28, 2021 sailings departing from Rome (Civitavecchia), Italy. Odyssey of the Seas was to resume operations beginning June 2nd, 2021 out of Haifa, Israel. However, due to the unrest in Israel and the region, we have not been able to complete the preparation required to operate and as a result, sailings out of Haifa will be cancelled.

Norwegian Cruise Line

The cruise line announced it would be suspending all trips through June 30, including cruises on its Oceania and Regent Seven Seas lines.
In conjunction with NCL’s second return to service announcement, NCL has also extended their voluntary temporary suspension for Pride of America and Norwegian Bliss through July 2021 as well as various September and October voyages across the fleet.
Norwegian Joy, Norwegian Jade, Norwegian Getaway, Norwegian Epic and Norwegian Gem now boast new homeports in Greece, Spain, Italy, and the Caribbean for six new and exciting itineraries and are bookable now! They are set to resume in July as fully vaccinated cruises in Europe and the Caribbean.
NCL will also be resuming sailings in Alaska from August 2021, Ex Seattle with NCL Bliss.

Princess Cruises

Princess Cruises plans to resume cruising in the United States from August onwards with cruises to Alaska onboard Majestic Princess.
Princess Cruises cancels select cruise vacations In Mexico, California Coast, Caribbean and Mediterranean.

Dream Cruises

In view of the current Covid-19 situation, Dream Cruises has cancelled sailings till 30th June. However World Dream has been based in Singapore since Nov 2020 and offering 2 and 3 night cruises on the high seas for Singapore residents.
Genting Dream is likely to resume cruising from Hong Kong from August onwards for HK residents and awaiting final approvals from HK authorities.

Holland America Line

Holland America Line has received approvals to restart cruising from Piraeus (Athens) in August with four departures in the Eastern Mediterranean aboard Eurodam.
HAL will also return to Alaska from 24th July ’21 with Nieuw Amsterdam offering 7 night roundtrip cruises from Seattle.
European cruises departing from July 1 through July 25 on Volendam and July 1 through Aug 31 on Westerdam has be cancelled. In addition, HAL is canceling European cruises aboard Nieuw Statendam.

Costa Cruises

Costa will be resuming operations with Costa Smeralda, Costa Firenze, Costa Luminosa, Costa Deliziosa in Europe this summer.

MSC Cruises

MSC will deploy MSC Grandiosa, MSC Seaside and MSC Seashore for cruising in the West Mediterranean, MSC Orchestra, MSC Splendida and MSC Magnifica in the Eastern Mediterranean and MSC Seaview in Northern Europe*.
MSC Virtuosa will perform her inaugural season around the British Isles, departing from Southampton and with embarkation in Liverpool and Greenock**.
*Cruises until the end of June 2021 are only available to guests who are residents in Schengen countries (Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Greece, Spain, France, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Hungary, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Slovakia, Finland, Sweden and Switzerland) and in Bulgaria, Croatia and Romania.
**For MSC Virtuosa’ sailings around the British Isles in the upcoming months, MSC will initially welcome only UK residents of all ages, both vaccinated and unvaccinated.
