Costa Smeralda is an Excellence-class cruise ship and the largest ship in Costa’s fleet apart from being the first LNG-powered cruise ship for Costa. She has a carrying capacity of 6,554 passengers and 1,646 crew members over 20 decks. Costa Smeralda is a symbol of beauty, style and Italian hospitality and its design has been inspired from the squares of the “Bel Paese” of Italy.
Costa Smeralda’s design features more efficient use of both indoor and open-deck spaces, with several multi-functional areas. The ship has dedicated club lounges for teens and kids, including toddlers as well. The pool deck is covered with a retractable glass roof. The Beach Club (adults only complex) is beneath the glass roof and features an activity area with 2 waterslides, rock climbing wall, sports deck area. This deck also has a giant LED wall for movies and other outdoor video entertainment.
She will sail the Western Mediterranean on multiple seven-night cruises during 2020 and 2021.
Accommodation
All cabins are spacious and comfortable with light colored furniture in a modern design. Staterooms have an interactive flat-screen satellite TV, air conditioners with adjustable thermostats, a mini bar, 24/7 steward service and hair dryers. Free Wi-Fi and 24-hour room service are available to the guests.
The suites on the cruise ship will offer wine as a welcome drink, a fruit basket, Jacuzzi bath, private VIP area in the terminal, priority disembarkation and boarding, connoisseur drinks package, reserved front row seating in the theatre and special access to the spa for an entire day.

The Amarillo ice cream shop on the cruise ship offers the best Agrimontana-based ice cream on board. Pizzeria Pummid’oro, an Italian restaurant offers 14 varieties of pizzas including four seasons, Napoli, Calzone and Margherita.
Teppanyaki provides a unique Japanese and oriental style dining experience to the guests. The cruise ship also features a Aperol Spritz bar.
